Spring 2 Newsletter

Newsletter Spring term 2

End of term

Today we break up for Easter. We hope you all have a restful time and we look forward to seeing you back at Pre School on Monday 25th April.

Kitchen fundraising

We would like to thank Trevor Bonsall at Amber Valley Rotary Club who has helped us get a £500 donation to our kitchen fundraising.  We are very grateful for the support we have received from the rotary over a number of years.

We would also like to say a big thank you to Enchanted Memories Photography who came in at half term and took some wonderful photos. We have received a £300 donation from them towards our kitchen appeal which is fantastic!

We hope the children enjoyed their smarties, don’t forget to return your silver smarties to Pre School.

Our campaign currently stands at £2545, just over half way to our target of £5000 to cover the cost of a new, improved kitchen.

Staff changes

Mrs Upton and Mrs Peachey have left pre-school to pursue other career opportunities, and we would like to thank them for their hard work over the last 13 years.  Mrs Lineker will be off this term, but she will be back in September.

We have been very busy interviewing some very promising candidates to fill the vacancies. We are very pleased to announce that Amie Briggs will be joining the team on a long term basis and that Stacey Maskrey and Sarah Cook will be joining us for at least the summer term.  I’m sure you will join us in giving them a warm welcome to Pre School.

If your child’s key person has left you will be introduced to their new key person after the holiday.

Car Parking/Road Safety

The safety of our children is paramount so please do not park on the road across the front of the building, particularly at dropping off or picking up time. Also, there is no parking at the front of the building as this is reserved for staff. Please take care when opening car doors, as the pavements are narrow and small children can easily get hurt.

Summer Term

25th April – Thursday 26th May (with the Queen’s Jubilee Bank Holiday on Friday 27th May)

6th June – 22nd July 2022 (closed 17th June for Pre-school outing)

Autumn term

5th September – 21st October

Health

Covid numbers are still a significant concern in our area and it is affecting a lot of families. The government guidelines have changed regarding Covid, however, as we are a small pre school with only a small number of staff, we would ask that you don’t send your child to pre-school until after day 5 of a suspected Covid infection. If we had an outbreak we would need to close if we didn’t have enough staff. Adults and children who have respiratory infection including covid should stay at home and avoid contact with other people. Covid will be treated like any other bug, if your child is ill they will be sent home.

Tummy bugs & Absence from Pre School

If your child suffers from sickness or diarrhoea, please do not send them back to Pre School until 48 hours after the last episode.

If your child can't attend Pre School for any reason, please call us and let us know and the reason for absence. If you are going on holiday, please ask for a holiday form. We need to record absences and reasons to comply with our Derbyshire County Council contract for funding.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make sure that your children’s clothes are clearly labelled with their full name.

As the weather starts to warm up, could we ask that you apply sunscreen to your child before they attend pre-school and you send them a sun hat, with their name written in.

Pre School-Trip

Letters will be coming out after the holiday for our summer outing to Matlock Park Farm on Friday 17th June. The coach will leave Pre School at 9.30am and return for 3.00pm in order for parents to collect children from school. Staff do not go on the outing; this is for children and their families. Pre School will be closed on this day for sessions. Seats on the coach are limited. However, families are welcome to go in their own cars and meet at the entrance to the park.
